Celebrity Spotlight: Scarlett Johansson and Moët + Chandon

Champagne carries the image of wealth, luxury, but also fun and celebration. You’re driving along and see a giant billboard. There she is, looking like many a man’s dream/fantasy girl, all decked out in a silver-blue taffeta ballgown and her signature crimson lipstick, perched on a ladder. She balances a bottle of Moët delicately on one exposed leg. She’s not a sommelier, winery owner, or wine educator/writer. She even plucked grapes from vines in 2010 during harvest. In this post:

So, why Scarlett Johansson? Luxury brands often hire celebrities to be the face for their companies. Consumers are more likely to buy a product if they see a familiar face representing a brand. Celebrities sell a feeling: ‘If Hugh Jackman drives that car, maybe I can be like, or with him!’ Scarlett Johansson’s success at the box office proves that she can sell products. She has been the face of the world famous Champagne House since 2009. So, maybe that person who buys a bottle of Moët will feel like he/she’s a part of Scarlett’s world, even if it’s just till the end of the bottle. Hope floats.

I just hope my significant other can get through this post without spontaneously combusting.
